Why ERP systems are so powerful?
When companies strive to solve these problems, they tend to ignore the fact that the ERP system is only a general representation of how the company conducts its activities. The majority of ERP systems have been designed with production companies in mind (i.e. companies that produce countable items), but some producers could not use the offered solutions (e.g. fuel, chemical and public administration businesses who structure their activities around product flow rather than product quantity). Each of the businesses had a difficult time choosing the ERP provider that would be able to modify the core of the ERP system so as to answer to their business needs.
Prompted by these problems and the specific needs of specialized enterprises, ERP providers have recently started offering unique adaptable applications which address the problems and challenges of particular businesses. However, there are other businesses which have been waiting for their needs to be answered also: retail sales, media, communal services, high-tech, the public sector, higher education and the banking sector.
